PPDA READY TO ROLL OUT MANEPS

AT THE HELM OF PPDA-KALEMBO

The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) has reaffirmed its readiness for the full rollout of the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS), come April 1, 2026.

This comes after government’s directive that as the new financial year commences on the day no Government Ministry, Department or Agency will be allowed to procure goods and services manually.

Speaking during the just concluded trainings for the third Cohort of Procuring and Disposing Entities (PDES) in the second phase, Acting Director General of the PDDA Timothy Kalembo said the Authority is committed as an implementor of the project on behalf of the Government.

He thus implored on all Government entities to embrace MANePS saying there is need for all public officials to acknowledge why the Government of Malawi has taken the route of Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP).

“When change has come there are some pockets of resistance, at individual level, let us all accept and know why Government is implementing E-GP.  Public Procurement has suffered negative perceptions and many   other anomalies, but now there shall be transparency at a click of a button. This is for our own benefit,” Kalembo said.

The Acting Director General has also called on all stakeholders to support the PPDA in an effort to restore sanity in the Procurement sector.
