The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) has intensified its nationwide sensitization drive on the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS) through community road shows in Karonga and Chitipa districts. 

The initiative is aimed at enhancing public understanding of government procurement processes while promoting inclusive participation by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In Karonga, the Authority engaged communities through vibrant edutainment activities designed to simplify procurement information and make it more accessible to ordinary citizens and business operators.

The road shows reached key trading points including Uliwa, Mlare, Mwenilondo, Zgewa, Chilumba, and Karonga Boma.

The campaign emphasized how MANePS enhances transparency, improves efficiency in procurement processes, and expands visibility for suppliers across the country. Participants were encouraged to register on the system and position themselves competitively to benefit from government contracting opportunities.

The Karonga engagement also served as a precursor to a MANePS supplier handholding exercise held on Wednesday, 23 June 2026 which drew about 60 participants.

In Chitipa, the campaign continued with equally energetic community engagement sessions characterized by music, dance, and talent showcases, where participants creatively communicated PPDA’s mandate through freestyle performances. 

The road shows created an interactive platform that strengthened public understanding of procurement reforms while fostering enthusiasm among local suppliers.

The Chitipa activities preceded a supplier training and handholding session held on 26 June 2026.

The engagement targeted business communities from various trading centres, including Lufita, Kapoka, and Old Karonga Airport Market.

Suppliers in both districts commended PPDA for bringing services closer to the people, noting that MANePS offers a simplified and transparent system that improves access to government procurement opportunities. 

Through these engagements, PPDA continues to reaffirm its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and broader participation in public procurement processes across Malawi.
